So, what is Virtual Autism?

Virtual autism is a newly proposed term that describes symptoms triggered by excessive screen exposure (more than 2-4 hours a day for children under 3).

Researchers have also used the terms Early and Excessive Exposure to Screens Syndrome and screen time as an environmental trigger for autism-related behaviors.

Clinicians and early interventionists often find a disappearance or remediation of symptoms when screen time is removed, including language delays, attention problems, and emotional and behavioral issues related to autism spectrum disorders.
